me and my baby

This is my favorite piece of furniture in the whole right world. When I designed this I was just out of med school, working as a part time doctor, who was living on top of this globe, not having to worry about anything at all. Then arrived my wedding. It is customary in our country for the mother of the bride to provide every little thing including furniture to the girl as token of love.

Most of the the girl has no say in this but I was a little bit lucky, as I knew Kamal before our  marriage & also he was not like other stubborn guys who didn't want to try something that their wife was talking about. He told me to design with my heart out. And boy did I dream! I designed & rethinked everything for over 3 months. You would have come in front of me & find me day dreaming & deep googling. There were sore eyes in the house, because I spent that much time in front of the computer!

I could not believe when I first saw my little furniture! Everything was just the way I dreamt of. But this little coffee table stole my heart away , the first moment I laid my eyes on. I had the wheels incorporated so that it could move through the living room as the guests were sitted.

But when Jian began to walk I just shoved it in a corner to protect her little toes! I just couldn't love it anymore. I wanted to but the mommy inside me said no! So for last 3 years or so I have been living without a coffee table & it is now my daughter's favorite place where she jumps, climbs on windows, sings, dances, calls off strangers from 7th floor or just plays with her eyeless teddy!

One of the thing I miss most after being a mommy is LINEAR SLEEP. We had this problem with Jian also, but she adopted her normal night time sleep schedule after 2 or 3 days, when we returned home from the hospital. But Azaan had these almost for 3 months & I tried everything. Night time massages, bathing, singing, even something stupid as letting him cry to sleep, which I tried once for 4 or 5 minutes & it was petrifying. How does one let their little babies cry to sleep? I think no parent could do so. So ultimately we all suffer from sleep deprivation.

It is like you are never having enough sleep. You are hungry all the time, you are angry all the time. I know this because I am chronically sleep deprived. But there are some shocking truth about sleep deprivation that we can easily prevent by looking for the signs...

1.Impaired glucose intolerance- evident by excessive hunger, urination & thirst.

2.Memory loss- you simply can remember the name of one of your classmates or a movie star!

3.Less precise motor skills- trying to pour something but you spill them

4.Feeling depressed.

5.Your body doesn't agree with you- like you are constantly coming down with flues, muscle aches, excessive pain from a simple fall or just simple old dark circles that you can't get rid of!

JIAN, CHECKING OUT ALL THE TOYS!!

LOVING MR. MICKY!!

MY PRINCESS!!

I just could not post my photos because of my bald head due to the terrible hair fall I am experiencing these past few weeks.

Many new moms are surprised to find themselves shedding more hair than usual in the first few months after giving birth, but it's perfectly normal. And there's no need to panic: You won't go bald. In fact, your hair should be back to normal by your baby's first birthday.

Here's what's going on. Normally, about 85 to 95 percent of the hair on your head is growing and the other 5 to 15 percent is in a resting stage. After the resting period, this hair falls out — often while you're brushing or shampooing it — and is replaced by new growth. An average woman sheds about 100 hairs a day.

During pregnancy, increased levels of estrogen prolong the growing stage. There are fewer hairs in the resting stage and fewer falling out each day, so you have thicker, more luxuriant tresses.

After you give birth, your estrogen levels take a tumble and a lot more hair follicles enter the resting stage. Soon you'll have more hair coming out in the shower or on the brush. This unusual shedding will taper off and your hair will be back to its pre-pregnancy thickness about six to 12 months after you give birth.

What can you do about it?

1.Use hair thickeners or mousse

2.Try shorter haircut

3.Stop worrying because it will cause more hair fall

4.BE CAREFUL- Strands of  long hair can end up tightly wrapped around your baby's tiny appendages, including his fingers, toes, wrists, ankles, and penis. This is called a hair tourniquet, and it can be quite painful for your little one. If you find him crying for no apparent reason, check carefully for tight bands of hair & cautiously remove it slowly rather than pulling it out fast.

We decided to circumcise our boy just after he was born. But then he developed physiological jaundice due to....get this..breast milk. The jaundice lasted for almost 6 weeks & he had to undergo a lot of painful pricking & blood testing ( my lil boy was so brave ). So, after much consideration, we did the procedure at 9 weeks & 4 days of his age, under local anesthesia. He had to do this when he was a bit bigger but then with general anesthesia, which has a lot of side effects, one of which is not regaining consciousness. So, why not now, when there is a good chance of healing & fast recovery. There is so many medical websites for this controversial topic but I found this site very helpful.

FIGHTING WITH ME, JUST FOR THE REMOTE!

ME SHOUTING IN THE BACKGROUND..."JIAN, DON'T YOU DARE PLAY WITH THE DIRT!"

JIAN, CRYING FOR CHOCOLATES, KAMAL TELLING ME I AM LOOKING FAT IN THE SAREE....MY TYPICAL PARTY DAY!

I have been receiving oxygen for the last 2 days for an hour as the baby is moving a little less & I am only 34 weeks. My doctor wants to go for another 2 weeks. Today it just struck me... we get so much free oxygen from the air but do we really think about it or at least say thank you to GOD just for once in our lifetime!!

I am just lost. There are so many incidents, all of which happened so fast! We are moving to a flat in my mom's apartment. Above which my father is in an ICU for the last 8 days. My 365 is hanging by a thread & Kamal busted the laptop adapter. So now we are in hyper emergency state with no computer or net. Friends pray for my dad, pray for all of us. We desperately need it!!

After a lot of tears & prayers, and my laptop gone dead and my worst luck with wi-fi internets I have this great opportunity to write a post & say to my friends..hey I am not dead or kidnapped, just having a series of bad luck with the computer. Between everything else Jian got hurt twice on the same knee, weakened by a viral flu attack & my husband's silly joke, I am on the verge of murdering my husband. I don't know why but every time something goes wrong with me it's somehow my husband's fault & he would never admit anything. Stay tuned for all of our experiences, both good & bad, our extraordinary journey through Malaysia with bits of my madness for traveling with a messy preschooler & an annoying husband!

After much deliberation, my brother & I made a slideshow project for Jian , documenting all the pictures taken within the month of January. I have no portable hard disc or a large pen drive. So it was very hard while editing & transferring from one computer to the other one because the net was not working in my sister's PC. The pain I had to go through...Will you be able to understand what  I had to do to perform the impossible?

36/365 BUSY BEE

Pictures do say thousand things at once. I usually don't like editing. But with so much going around you, you are bound to change a little. Your friends saying these things that they don't know about. Like what you should read for exams even though they have never attended any or opinions for you having no job. I love being a stay at home mom. But people around me just don't seem to get my point. My husband says I have become lazy. My brothers think I have grown fat & my friends think....spending time with my little baby is just an excuse for not getting a job. I mean I have no regrets who I am today. I am so happy being a mom. I never felt so beautiful & confident inside. Most of the time I am at peace with what ever life throws at me. Being a mom makes you strong & all carefree about stupid little details. But sometimes they just get to my nerve. Then again when I look at my blog & pictures of my little girl, taken by her lazy fat jobless mom, every little curve ball seems fair enough. So LIFE... BRING IT ON!!

I don't know if it's just me but recently my baby's hyperactivity is taking it's toll on me. I have became so impatient. And my control span is this much ( indicating to one third of my fingers ). Every time I drag her or shout at her she cries & it breaks my heart into pieces. I feel so down. Jian can you ask God to make your mommy anger & scream free? Is that possible during this lifetime? And could you just ask God for your daddy to be more considerate? I know he is the best but could he make him a little bit like me so that I don't feel that guilty or better yet just let him be & change me instead, so that I don't get angry at his silly stupid jokes.
